Bay Informed Discussion Series: Fisheries in Space

August 16, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Knowing how many fish we catch is obviously important to maintaining sustainable fisheries, but what about where we catch them?

Students from the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography will discuss their research aimed at understanding the spatial distribution of fish in order to help us to avoid incidental catches of marine mammals and maximize harvest of summer flounder.

All ages welcome!

Light refreshments will be served.

Presented by: Joe Langan and Chris Orphanides

The Bay Informed Discussion Series is sponsored by Rhode Island Sea Grant in Partnership with GSO. This series is held every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at URI’s Graduate School of Oceanography’s Bay campus in Narragansett. These events are designed for the community to get involved and learn more about research at GSO.
