Rhode Island Sea Grant has produced a
report from its 2004 Science Symposium on nutrients in Narragansett
Bay. The report demonstrates the multiple perspectives that
have emerged on whether the focus is basic research, applied
research needs, or the engineering of treatment or management
solutions. There appear to be four distinct regions of the
bay: the Providence River estuary, the Upper Bay, the Middle
Bay, and the Lower Bay, for which varying data are available.
