Rhode Island Sea Grant supports high quality research that can be applied to solve coastal and marine issues important to stakeholders. In each funding cycle, Rhode Island Sea Grant solicits proposals for research projects that align with its research focus areas. In 2012-2014, those focus areas are Healthy Coastal Ecosystems and Safe and Sustainable Seafood Supply.

As part of the Northeast Sea Grant Consortium, Rhode Island Sea Grant is also supporting research emphasizing the human dimensions of coastal ecosystems in the New York Bight Region.
