Sea Grant Science Symposium 2005Lobsters as Model Organisms for Interfacing Behavior, Ecology, and Fisheries |
Note from Barbara Somers ...Hi All, The symposium was a huge success and we thank you all for making an effort to be part of the day. All the emails that I received indicated that a good time was had by all and Stan was so pleased that everyone could attend. It allowed him to see old acquaintances he hadn't seen for some time and reminisce about the past with his former students. Between all the fun, we shared some information and insight on the current and future challenges facing the lobster industry and went home with some new perspectives on lobster health, and much to think about. Stan has been sailing several times this summer thanks to your contributions. Kevin Hovel spent a summer afternoon sailing with Stan on his boat so many thanks to him for his contribution of time as well. Word has it that Stan has been relaxing in his new rocker and enjoying his first summer of retirement. Don't think for a minute that he has slowed down, though. He was off to Alaska last month for the AFS meeting and has his hands full with his remaining graduate students. All the videotapes have been transcribed and the proceedings are in the works. Thanks to Rick Wahle for taking charge of organizing the author's submissions and putting in the time to keep things on track for JCB. Below I've had some photos posted (courtesy of Peter Lawton) and if anyone has any that they would like to share, please send them along and I will get them on the website. Once again thanks to everyone that attended and made the 3rd Annual Sea Grant Science Symposium (honoring Stan Cobb) such a success.
