Northeast Cooperative Fisheries Research
These pages have been created to highlight cooperative fisheries research conducted throughout the Northeast. The objective is to present fisheries scientists and other fisheries user groups with a sample of the types of cooperative research projects that are taking place and to help make connections among investigators interested in collaborative research.

Alaska Fisheries Science Center Fisheries Behavioral

Ecology Research Program

The Fisheries Behavioral Ecology Program has developed unique laboratory tools and experimental protocols for studying the effects of fishing-related stressors on fish bycatch mortality.  Fishing practices ordinarily involve allowing undersized and unwanted fish (bycatch) to escape from fishing gear (escapees) or to be returned to the sea (discards) after being brought onto a fishing vessel.
