The Rhode Island Sea Grant Omnibus research portfolio competition has progressed to the full proposal phase, with a proposal deadline of 01 June 2007. We have 23 proposals in the overall Omnibus competition, five proposals in the Collaborative Fisheries Research competition, six proposals in the Legal Research competition, and one proposal in the Regional Research competition. After a rigorous external peer review process, decisions on funding will be made at a full panel review meeting in late August.

Also, Dan Robinson, our Rhode Island candidate who is pursuing a Master of Marine Affairs degree, was selected as one of five Coastal Services Center Coastal Management Fellows. He will work with the San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission to promote effective and collaborative ecosystem-based management for San Francisco Bay. Congratulations, Dan!
