Allison Novelly secures Coastal States Organization (CSO) Summer Internship
Allison Novelly is this year’s recipient of the ABA Environmental and Diversity Fellowship, created to encourage diverse or financially deserving students to engage in environmental law.  Allison succeeded in securing a summer internship with the Coastal States Organization in Washington, D.C., through a competitive process in which students wrote personal statements and interviewed with the selection committee.

Baird Symposium enlists new speakers, recruits sponsorsRWU volunteers
Dr. Bela Buck, Head of the Marine Aquaculture, Maritime Technologies and ICZM Work Group at the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research in Bremerhaven, Germany, will provide the symposium keynote address at the November 2-4 Baird Symposium.

Community Service Day at Rhode Island Community Food Bank
The Legal Program, along with other staff members of the Roger Williams University School of Law, spent a day volunteering at the Rhode Island Community Food Bank.

RINHS conference to examine offshore marine ecosystems, impacts of alternative energy development, April 23
“The conference will convene scientists, government managers, community leaders, and the general public to discuss what we know about Rhode Island’s off-shore ecosystem and how we might expect it to respond to development of off-shore wind farms or other large projects,” said David Gregg, director of the Rhode Island Natural History Survey, which is sponsoring the conference.  “The event is intended to inform and promote ongoing discussions regarding the development of the state’s Ocean Special Area Management Plan.”
