Introduction

New Publication: Recommendations for Management of the Woonasquatucket River & Promenade Street District

Cranston, East Providence, Pawtucket, and Providence are acting to make Narragansett Bay's largest urban waterfront a more appealing place to live and work by:

  • Improving the economic, social, and environmental resources of the working waterfront
  • Attracting world-class developers by making permitting more predictable and efficient
  • Providing recreational opportunities and public access to the water

The R.I. Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) is supporting these efforts through development of the Metro Bay Special Area Management Plan (SAMP). SAMPs refine the state coastal program by taking a regional integrated approach in setting coastal management goals and policies. SAMPs are federally recognized upon state approval.
