Join the Newport Friends of the Waterfront for a guided tour of the Newport Harbor Walk!
The tour will begin from Mary Ferrazzoli Park at the corner of Long Wharf and Washington Street (next to
the RIDEM State Pier #9) and continue southward to King Park. The tour takes about 2 hours to complete.
(NOTE: Please do not park in the State Pier #9 parking lot - parking is available at the Newport Visitor's Information
Center on America's Cup Avenue.)

The Newport Harbor Walk is a hidden jewel of the city, providing locals and tourists a unique opportunity to see the harbor up close, along with shops, restaurants and the working waterfront. This guided tour will be hosted with Newport's Friends of the Waterfront to introduce walkers to the Harbor Walk and discuss some of its recent success stories as well as challenges and opportunities for future enhancements. (NOTE: Please do not park in the State Pier #9 parking lot - parking is available at the Newport Visitor's Information Center on America's Cup Avenue.)

June 17, 2010, 7:00 p.m., Newport Friends of the Waterfront Annual Meeting.
The Friends of the Waterfront will conduct its annual meeting at the Newport Public Library's Program Room and review of its accomplishments over the past year! If you missed the May 20th "Harbor Walk Design Public Forum," please feel free to come to the Library before 7:00 p.m. to view the "concept sketches" produced by the volunteer design professionals in the ground-floor lobby of the Library. A 15-20 minute presentation will be part of the meeting program to review the results of the design workshop and some of the next steps in the Harbor Walk Design!
May 20, 2010: Public Forum: Design Concepts for Enhancing Newport Harbor Walk
The public is invited to attend an open meeting on Thursday, May 20 at the Newport Public Library, 300 Spring St., to provide input on early design concepts and ideas aimed at enhancing the Newport Harbor Walk. The draft sketches will be on display in the library's program room from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., with the forum starting at 7pm. p.m.

A public forum to discuss the survey results from the Harbor Walk display will take place at the Newport Public Library's Program Room on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.

May 28, 2009: Friends of the Waterfront Annual Meeting
URI CRC/RI Sea Grant was invited to be the guest speaker at the Friends of the Waterfront Annual Meeting held at the Newport Public Library. CRC/RI Sea Grant developed a slide show called, “Harbor Walking Around North America”, that provided some case studies of successful waterfront walkways from around the U.S. and Canada .

June 26, 2008: Public Consensus Meeting
This public meeting served as a follow-up session to the October 2007 Newport Waterfront 2030 Symposium, to review the outcomes & priority recommendations of the two-day Symposium and build community consensus around the recommendations to initiate the next phases of planning and implementation. Meeting attendees communicated support of the priority recommendations and encouraged the planning team to maintain the momentum and move forward with next steps.
2007
October 6 & 27th, 2007: Newport Waterfront 2030 Symposium
This two-day symposium, held at the International Yacht Restoration School (IYRS) on Newport’s waterfront, initiated a visioning process to observe, define and discuss the problems and issues facing a successful waterfront district. Participants formulated ideas and recommendations to be utilized in the continuing development and planning of Newport’s unique waterfront.
