Greenwich Bay's
Largest Plankton

The jellyfish is Greenwich Bay's largest plankton.
The largest jellyfish seen in Greenwich Bay is the
lion's mane jellyfish, which
has been reported to reach a diameter of 8 feet in the Gulf of
Maine.
Don't worry! It doesn't get nearly this big in Greenwich Bay.
It should be avoided, though, as it can give you an
unpleasant-feeling sting.
Another larger plankton (a few inches long), often
mistaken for a jellyfish, is the comb jelly. The comb
jelly is a ctenophore and has no
stinging cells at all.
