The Rhode Island Aquaculture Initiative: Growing Sustainable Aquaculture in the Ocean State
By David Alves, David Bengtson, Barry Costa-Pierce, and Timothy Scott
The aquaculture industry, dormant in Rhode Island from the 1920s through the 1970s, is enjoying a resurgence largely due to research, outreach, and education activities funded through the Rhode Island Aquaculture Initiative. The initiative's accomplishments are the focus of this special section of 41°N: A Publication of Rhode Island Sea Grant and the URI Coastal Institute.
