Science Communications Intern
Rhode Island Sea Grant supports research, extension, legal, and education programs that address issues in the areas of sustainable coastal development, healthy coastal ecosystems, and safe and sustainable seafood.

The Science Communications Intern will assist Sea Grant communications and extension professionals in developing, writing, and editing stories focused on funded research and community outreach efforts.

Interns will have the opportunity to develop their writing portfolios by providing in-depth stories to be published in our biannual magazine, 41N, as well as other media outlets. Ideal candidates will have strong writing and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently in the field interviewing researchers and community members. This internship is offered for credit or on a volunteer basis. Internships are available in fall and spring semesters, as well as over the summer.

Knauss Fellowships

The National Sea Grant College Program offers the Dean John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship to highly qualified graduate students in marine-related fields who have an interest in ocean, coastal and Great Lakes resources and in the national policy decisions affecting those resources. The program matches students with "hosts" in the legislative branch, executive branch, or appropriate associations/institutions located in the Washington, D.C. area, for a one year paid fellowship. Each Fellow receives funding for a stipend, living expenses, mandatory health insurance, and moving costs. More.
